You me bum bum train

So tonight I am going to see You Me Bum Bum Train (show by the Barbican and in partnership with Theatre Royal Stratford East). I am excited but equally as nervous. I have no idea what it is about. At the moment all I know is that it a a participatory adventure and I am the sole member of the audience. LOL

Yes I no what does that even mean?

The show will be held at the Empire House in Stratford. And the one I'm going to starts at 7pm. And right now that all I know. Will update with more info after but in the letter you get once you've booked you are to keep the experience to yourself.

Gold Arts Award

Arts Award Unit 1a: Costume Design

For unit 1 of my Arts Award I'm going to look into costume design. As I'm currently working at Theatre Royal Stratford East, I don't see what better place then here to start. My first step will to see who is in charge of costumes and wardrobe and get some tips and advice from them for when I have a go at designing my own costume collection.

I have a real interest in corsetry, so I am going to look into period drama and base my collection around a period themed play.
So I'm probably going to have to start off by researching into a few designer that focus on that area.

The Harder They Come Dress Rehearsal

So at work (Theatre Royal Stratford East) I was lucky enough to be able to watch The Harder They Come dress rehearsal and it was amazing. I have never seen a musical before so didn't no what to expect.

In my head I pictured a full production like they do for the Panto, so big scenery, costumes changes, but it wasnt like that at all, it was much more simple.
Yes each character was in a costume, but other then the main character they didn't change. There were about 9 mics on stage and you could see the band and the Stratford East Singer (our own brilliant choir) at the back. It was unlike any show I've seen before but I really enjoyed it and cant wait to see another.

The singers were amazing, they had me singing along to all the songs I just wanted to get up and dance. As it was just a dress rehearsal there wasn't a lot of people in the audience, but the atmosphere was still amazing, so I can only imagine what it was like for the actual show.

So yeah if you didn't get to see it at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, make sure you try an check out where they are next.
